20/04/20: Update on alternative FSM provision

During the coronavirus outbreak and this period of school closure, we are now pleased to be able to offer eligible parents and pupils access to free school meals by supplying supermarket eGift cards, that can be spent locally to you. The DfE have funded these eGift cards as part of a national scheme for the value of £15 per week. You will be able to choose which supermarket you would like an eGift card for including Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, Tesco and more.

Eligible parents and pupils will be receiving their initial £15 eCode via email this week, starting from Monday 20th April. These eCodes can be redeemed online for an eGift card for the supermarket of your choice by visiting www.freeschoolmeals.co.uk.  You can also find more details and FAQs here.

You will then receive an additional eCode from w/c 27th April with a total value of the equivalent of £15 per week for the remaining weeks through to May half term (not including May half term). This is line with the latest DfE guidance for administering the scheme.

If you do not receive a voucher you are expecting (and you are certain that your child is eligible for free school meals) please check your SPAM/Junk email folders and with family members before contacting us as we have used the most up to date email address we have on file (this is often the one you have used with School Money). The DfE vouchers will be fulfilled by a company called Edenred, so please look out for this name. The DfE have explained that due to high demand, there can be up to a 72 hour delay between school ordering the vouchers and them being emailed to parents/carers.

If you need to check your child’s eligibility for free school meals, or claim for more than one child, please do so by going on to the following website: cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/birmingham. If your application is successful, school will not be able to provide vouchers until we receive notification of your successful application. We are unable to provide any back-dated vouchers.

Thank you for your continued support at this challenging time.

The above information is for any parent who has a child eligible for Free School Meals (not including those eligible for the Universal meal offer for EYFS/Key Stage 1).
